Yesterday the kids and I went to SELBY BOTANICAL GARDENS for a Halloween Parade. Thomas was dressed as Mickey Mouse and had his pick of the Seven Minnie Mouses that were there. Madelyn was "Pink Minne" (from the Mickey Mouse Club House). I also joined in on the fun (at Madelyn's request) and dressed as Minnie Mouse too. It was Freezing by our standards, and I wasn't the most prepared of moms. It's Sarasota. It was in the 90's just last week. How was I to really grasp temperatures in the 50's?? Thomas was outfitted in Bjorn's socks in an effort to keep his legs warm. Madelyn's long sleeve undershirt and sweatshirt were sitting at home in my closet. In my defense, I did try to get her some leggings, but they fell right off of her skinny little butt. So, she was there, trick-or-treating through the gardens, with a red nose and lots of goose bumps covering her body.
We ended the day with lunch at THE OLD SALTY DOG. As I was driving from Selby to lunch, I couldn't help but say over and over again "Man are we lucky!". We live in Paradise. The sky was a beautiful dark blue, the air was crisp, the water was sparkling. Wow! Then, as we pulled into the parking lot, I looked out to the water and spotted a dolphin about 50 yards away. It doesn't get any better than that!
Here are some pictures of the days events.
